During this summer Atlantis 2005 was held in Fasano, Italy. This is the First International Youth Camp for the Euro-Med Countries. IFRC officers and trainers from Geneva were all the time present for supervision. For two weeks we had to work and to live with TV reporters and interviewers who stayed in the same place with us. We, the Red Cross youths were divided into groups to cover Disaster Response and Preparedness, Pandemics, Migration, Humanitarian Law and Addictions. Professors gave us training in disaster preparedness and management, child trauma and psychology from geological side to equipment and also emergency methods. We had to do also emergency simulations with time limit.
We were also taken on cultural tours where we had the chance to admire our surrounding. We had time to go shopping and to the beach where we found a lost puppy. Mohammed fromLebanon decided to adopt it and the puppy was officially called the Atlantis puppy mascot.
On last day we were to present our countries to each other. After the certificate presentation a party was held during which we exchanged gifts as souvenirs. Soon it was time to say goodbye to each other but we promised to keep in touch.
