Malta University Sports Club abseiling with SART
For the second year, the Malta University Sports Club entrusted to MRCGB's newly formed SART team to organize an abseiling activity at the usual spot at Dwejra - San Lawrenz. This formed part of the Gozo Weekend organsed by the same university group during the Carnival Days.
The day was optimal for an abseiling afternoon, the sun was warm and the sky was bright blue. The team arrived early as usual to set up the equipment before the MUSC group arrived on site. Two sites were prepared; one was set up to accommodate beginners i.e. the slope was not so steep while the other site had a steeper incline. When the group arrived, the usuall but still important safety talk was given. Afterwards, the group divided into smaller numbers and they started abseiling. Individual attention was given to each one, since most of them had never experienced abseiling before. Everyone had a choice which site to abseil and also they had a choice what type of descending device to chose; grigri or figure of 8.
I would like to thank MUSC in behalf of the MRCGB that once more they entrusted our SART team to organize the events. Moreover, I would like to thank all those volunteers who gave a very helpful hand during this event.
