Migration Process to Mater Dei Hospital Complete

Mater Dei Hospital

In the past month, the Malta Red Cross was greatly involved in the Migration Process of the newly built Mater Dei Hospital in Malta. Although it was planned to operate with only two ambulances throughout all the migration period, the branch had to operate with four ambulances all professionally equipped with crew. This demand rose from the hospital migration organiser after evaluating the sterling service the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch offered in the first days of the migration.

Apart from this, the branch was not only limited to patient transport from St Luke’s to Mater Dei Hospital. The branch did emergency service at Mater Dei Hospital during the first days of the inauguration of its Emergency Department. During the emergency service one ambulance with Gozo Branch volunteers was called out on a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) where casualty extraction was preformed.

During this migration process the Gozo Branch had two other major ambulance services in Malta. These were the visits of German President Horst Köhler and Queen Elizabeth II in Malta.
