In June, around 40 members of the Scout Association of Malta attended an Abseiling Team Leader Course organised by Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch Search and Rescue Unit (S.A.R.T.).

The course was spread over 3 days. The Scouts were taught both the theoretical aspect as well as practical abseiling techniques in different localities around Gozo.

This course was structured in such a way to instruct the Scouts members to better organize and plan abseiling events in the safest ways possible. Some basic rope rescue techniques were also shown to the participants and several practical techniques were carried out at Dwejra, Ħondoq, and also at the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch premises in Xewkija. All participants showed motivation throughout all the course.

A certificate presentation was also held at Scouts IHQ in Floriana on 16 July. Malta Red Cross Secretary General, Dr. Christina Saydon, attended this event and distributed the certificates to the successful candidates.
