Today returned back to Malta Mr Audrick Plum, a Red Cross/Armed Forces of Malta Combat Life saver instructor and Etienne Micallef Gozo Branch Sectary/EMT instructor trainer after delivering a one week training course in Sicily. The Maltese team was asked to assist in delivering a course in tactical combat casualty care to a group of Italian police, Italian Carabineri and Italian Red Cross Military Corp members. Members of the group have already been deployed to conflict situations such as Iraq. The training served to better equip the students in their future missions.

The one week full immersion course, followed international standards in combat medicine as laid down by NATO. Besides theoretical sessions, several hours were spend on hands on practice and simulations. The final exercise took place Friday night, whereas as Saturday the final debrief was done. The Malta Red Cross team was praised for their high level of preparation and professionalism. The Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch has invested in a lot of resources and equipment to be able to give courses in tactical medicine locally and abroad. In the last years similar projects are currently being undertaken jointly with the Armed Forces of Malta.
