Today a group of seventy children from Munxar under the supervision of Fr Tonio Galea assisted by a number of leaders, visited the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch Headquarters in Xewkija. The aim of this two hour visit was to make the children more aware of the work Red Cross carries out in Gozo.
For the visit children were divided into small groups, each of which had to pass through different stations managed by Red Cross Instructors. The first station was led by Mr Eric Grech, who delivered a talk about safety at sea and lifeguards. Mr Grech described in detail what consisted of the work of a lifeguard. Mr Anthony Grech and Ms Felicia Muscat managed another station where children saw how Red Cross ambulances were set up. They were bombarded with questions about various equipment that is found inside the ambulances. Mr A Grech delivered also a brief talk about the correct procedure how to dial 112 and call for emergency help. The last station was led by Mr Mario Saliba, who delivered a talk of how the Red Cross was founded and what is its role in the today's society internationally and locally.
